Steven (Steve) Lowell Peck passed away peacefully at the age of 69 on November 6, 2022, in Charleston. With family members at his side, he ended his struggle with dementia, which he had bravely endured for many years. Throughout his health ordeal, Steve retained his sense of humor and continued to express appreciation for any and every kindness.
Steve was born in Greenville, SC and spent his childhood years in Mt. Pleasant and Charlotte. He graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 1971 and from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1979. Before beginning his professional career, he participated in summer and winter Outward Bound programs and enjoyed working in Boston, Nantucket, Aspen, and Steamboat Springs.
Steve was a long-time resident of Charleston where he first worked in marketing with Hardee's and later in real estate with Carolina One. He loved the Charleston area and enjoyed exploring its many attractions. He especially loved walking along the Battery and on the beach at Sullivan's Island. Steve also liked to travel and relished the trips he had to places such as France. China, and Chile, where he was especially fascinated by the archaeological sites and monumental statues on remote Easter Island.
Steve was dearly loved by his family and is survived by his sister Susan Green of Charlotte, brother Ray F. Peck, Jr. and wife Martha, nephew Jason F. Peck and wife Sneha (children Caden and Maya), and nephew David W. Peck and wife Jessica, all of Raleigh, NC.
A memorial service to celebrate Steve's life will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Providence Church, 294 Seven Farms Rd. on Daniel Island in Charleston, SC.
