Steve Livingston Rickenbaker, 78, entered into eternal rest and peace at home on January 23, 2025. He was the son of David and Louise Rickenbaker and is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 57 years, Faye Gelzer Rickenbaker and their beloved daughter, Jennifer Tinsley Rickenbaker of Summerville, South Carolina; Brothers: Alan "Rick" Rickenbaker (Hazel) of Columbia, South Carolina and Ricky Rickenbaker (Theresa) of Summerville, South Carolina and many beloved nieces and nephews. Steve was a lifelong resident of Summerville or as he would say, "The big metropolis of Jedburg". He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Jedburg. After graduating from Summerville High School, Steve enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, served his country in Vietnam, ending his service as an E-5 weapons instructor in Parris Island, South Carolina. He loved farming and the country life. He particularly loved his horses. Steve was always a hard worker. As a teenager, he drove a school bus and worked at filling stations. He worked many years in SC meat inspection and as a supplier to his mom's "This Old House" antique shop and his own furniture refinishing business, "The Stripping Barn". He loved family time, road trips, auctions, movies, sitting on the front porch, his brother Alan's homemade ice cream and sharing life stories with much embellishment. Steve will be missed but we thank God for sharing him with us.
A visitation of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, 303 South Main Street, Summerville, SC 29483. A celebration of life will begin at 2:00pm in the Chapel. Burial will immediately follow at First Baptist Church of Jedburg, 121 Brewer Road, Summerville, SC 29483.
