Steve Cheran Jr., 87, of Monroeville, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022, in his home. Steve was born March 2, 1935, in Jeannette, the son of the late Steve and Lillian (Ciganovic) Cheran. Steve was a veteran of the Army and was stationed in Germany and France in the 1950s. He then worked for U.S. Steel Edgar Thomson Works in Braddock, and then worked and retired from Gateway School District as a custodian and, after retirement, Steve worked as a funeral associate with the John M. Dobrinick Funeral Home Inc. in Trafford. Steve was an active and dedicated member of St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church in Monroeville and was an antique car enthusiast. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Blanda. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Rose Marie (Tarbuck) Cheran; his children, Melissa (Michael) Paolucci and Steven (Kim) Cheran; his niece, Paula Blanda, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and his special brothers-in-law, John and Melvin Tarbuck. Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the JOHN M. DOBRINICK FUNERAL HOME INC., 702 Seventh St. (State Route 130), Trafford, 412-372-3111. Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church, 2110 Haymaker Road, Monroeville, with Father Stefan Djoric officiating. Everyone please go directly to the church Monday morning. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, North Versailles.
