Stephen Roy Ward, 79, passed away Wednesday evening, November 11, 2020. He was surrounded by his loving family at home. He was the loving husband of Linda (Moorehead) Ward who he was married to for 48 years.
Mr. Ward was born August 12, 1941 in Queens NY, son of the late Leroy Melvin and Evelyn Matilda (Arent) Ward.
Stephen proudly served as an officer in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division. He was medically discharged following a parachuting accident, and moved on to his career as a Certified Public Accountant in private practice then for Smithtown and East Islip Public School Districts on Long Island. He lived on Long Island most of his life. He loved to fly model airplanes, and was a member of the Long Island Radio Control Society and the East Coast Swamp Flyers. He also loved Lionel model trains and playing guitar. Other interests included sailing. But most of all, he just loved being together with his family.
Besides his wife Linda, Mr. Ward is survived by his daughter Carolyn and her husband David Bradley IV of Cheshire; son Steve and his wife Rachel Ward of Brooklyn, NY; sister Lois Weir of St. Petersburg, FL; and four grandchildren Allison, Katherine, Madeline, and Finley. Stephen was predeceased by his brother in law Walter Weir.
Calling hours for Mr. Ward were held 2 to 4 P.M, Sunday, November 15, 2020 at The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St., 06410. Stephen's funeral started at 9:45 A.M, Monday, November 16, 2020 from the funeral home and proceeded to Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford, 06492 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. Burial with full military honors followed at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 259 Gypsy Ln., Meriden, 06450.
