Stephen David Seymour Jr., age 90 of Socastee, SC, passed away on June 15, 2021.
Mr. Seymour was born in Sanford, NC, the son of the late Stephen D. Seymour Sr. and Pauline Blair Seymour. He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1948 and later graduated from NC State College in 1953 with a degree in mechanical engineering and a commission as 2nd Lt. US Air Force Reserve. He trained and served as a radar maintenance officer at a remote site in Labrador. After being released from active duty, he worked as a design engineer for The Roberts Company and the Saco Lowell Shops in Sanford, NC. He transferred to Clemson, SC and worked for Saco Lowell R & D Center. In 1968, he left the textile industry and moved to Myrtle Beach, SC to work at Myrtle Beach Air Force Base as a mechanical engineer with the Base Civil Engineering Squadron. He retired from civil service in September 1991 as Chief of Engineering Technical Design. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach and a long time and grateful member of the Al-Anon Family Group.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bettye R. Seymour and infant grandson, Wesley J. Tier. He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Mary Jo Stewart-Seymour and sister, Mrs. E.L. Hutchinson of Americus, GA.
He is survived by his son, Jeff Seymour (Cathy), of Charleston, SC; daughter, Melite Secino (Col. Joseph Secino), of Fredericksburg, VA; daughter, Jennifer Tier of Murrells Inlet, SC; niece, Sheron Wood of Concord, GA and four granddaughters.

Funeral service will be held 4:00 pm, Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel with Rev. Meredith Dark officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
