Stephen Emory Musil, 71, of Stamford, TX, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021. A rosary followed by a funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Megargel, TX, a rosary at 10:00a.m., with Mass following at 11:00a.m., Wednesday, May 5, 2021 with Father Barry Cuba officiating. Burial will follow at the Megargel Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell. A rosary is planned for 7:00p.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at the St. George Catholic Church, 901 N. 16th, Haskell, TX.
Stephen was born June 18, 1949 in Stamford, TX to Emory Benjamin Musil and Mary Agnes (Cuba). He married Nicolasa Peralez on October 1, 2017 in Stamford. Stephen was a member the Knights of Columbus 4th degree member for 34 years (Past Austin Diocesan Deputy), American assn. of Musician local 688, Tx State Bar assn., Abilene Bar assn., Austin Diocesan of School Board, Treasurer Tx. assn. of Domestic Relation offices for 39 years, Finance council and choir member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church of Austin, Assistant District Attorney for 4 yrs in Austin, and Church Lector at St. George Catholic Church in Haskell. He was also an active member of St. George Catholic Church, and St. Anns Catholic Church, Stamford.
He is survived by his wife, Nicolasa Musil of Haskell; 3 sons, Jeffrey Musil and wife Vanessa of Round Rock, John Musil and wife Hannah of Vancouver, Canada, Ben Musil and wife Alyssa of Austin; 2 daughters, Katie Hanley and husband Bryan of Austin, Jennifer Rowsey and husband John of Austin; 2 sisters, Pat Smith and husband Price of Wichita Falls, Paula Gilbert and husband Rick of Wichita Falls; 2 brothers, David Musil and wife Patsy of Keller, Tim Musil of Golden, Colorado; mother, Mary Musil of Wichita Falls; 11 grandchildren; 2 stepsons, Ren? Salazar and wife Hortencia of Austin, Robbie Benavides and wife Jennifer of Austin; 3 stepdaughters, Annette Salazar of Austin, Donna Moreno of Haskell, Danette Cloud of Austin, 18 step grandchildren; and 19 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emory Musil; and brother, John Kevin Musil.
