Stephen Douglas "Doug" Lemon, 52, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Wednesday, September 4th, 2019.
He was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia and was an alumnus of Parkersburg High School, Marshall University (BA in Psychology), and Wright State University (Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology). Doug worked for 27 years as a clinical psychologist, serving in Kentucky, Ohio, and West Virginia. He served as a Staff Psychologist, Drug Abuse Program Coordinator, and Chief Psychologist during a 25-year career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons (FCI Morgantown, FCI Ashland, USP McCreary). Doug also managed a private practice throughout his career and worked as a clinical psychologist at Oakwood Residential Facility in Somerset, Kentucky. His faith in Jesus was his life, and he was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the security detail. Doug's greatest joy in life was leading others to salvation in Jesus Christ. Doug enjoyed the outdoors, weightlifting, and going to the gun range with his son, Christian. His favorite pastime was going on walks with his wife, Andrea and his dog, Marshall.
Doug was preceded in death by his brother, John Michael Lemon; grandparents, Harry and Ethel Lemon and Robert and Catherine Whitlatch.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Andrea Lemon; four children, Michael, Christian, Hayley, and Clark; father, Chester Lemon; mother, Sheila Lemon; stepmother, Gypsy Lemon; best friend, Doug Suess; mentor, Ken Gowin; and his beloved dog, Marshall.
Funeral services will be held at Oak Hill Baptist Church in Somerset, Kentucky on Saturday, September 7, 2019 with visitation from 11:00am until 1:00pm. His funeral will follow on Saturday at 1:00pm with Bro. Ken Gowin and Bro. Gary Phelps officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be made to his children's college fund in memory of Stephen "Doug" Lemon.
