Stephen Curtis Kraemer
November 18, 1952 - May 2, 2022
Stephen, “Steve” Kraemer, 69, passed away in the morning of May 2, 2022.
The first of four brothers, Steve was born November 18, 1952 in Portland, Oregon to Mary W. and Robert “Bob” Kraemer. He spent the majority of his life in the Salem/Keizer area working as a carpet and flooring installer; finishing his career at the Willamette Heritage Center (Mission Mill ) assisting with building exhibits and lending his talents to the annual Christmas lighting event.
Steve; with his swagger, great sense of style and congenial personality; was a kind and honest man. If you were a part of his life he would do anything for you and he always gave 100%. His sense of humor was one of kind and always kept you laughing, he made the intolerable, tolerable.
Steve loved collecting the unique and unusual. His passion for second hand stores led him on many adventures, hunting for treasures for hours on end. He would find trinkets to give to those he loved, collect more treasures for his personal stash or, more often than not, would pick up materials for a project. His talent for making something out of nothing was astounding and resulted in either practical fixes or pieces of art that he delighted in surprising his friends with.
His interests were reflected in these collections, classic cars, motorcycle memorabilia, racing, water skiing and knives were some of the parts of Steve. But he also loved art and fashion, as evidenced by his collection of Nagel’s and his love of leather boots and jackets. Steve was the kind of guy everyone knew, and he was loved and respected by many.
In his final days, he was surrounded by those he held closest to his heart; his best friend and companion of over 20 years, Linda Abel, accompanied by her daughter Jacque Larant; and his brothers Robert II of Salem, OR, Larry of Stayton, OR and Tony of Eugene, OR. Steve is survived by them, as well as his Aunt Carolyn and numerous cousins. Steve now is now reunited with his parents that have passed before him.
