Steve Hewes passed away Wednesday, January 27th doing what he loved, working in his woods. Steve was a man with many professions. His love of faith, family, farming and forestry is what he would be known for best. He was a man who could reinvent the wheel and make it run better than when he started. As well as an avid writer and reader, his passion was working with his hands and making things grow.
Stephen was born 3/09/1954 in Hanover, NH. He grew up with his family on their farm in Lyme Center, NH. His ancestors were one of the first families to settle in Lyme. He was raised working in the woods with Durham/Short Horn steers as well as horses. He graduated from Lebanon High School and attended Farrier School in Golden, CO.
Descended from a family of loggers and farmers, Steve would go on to continue that work for the rest of his life. He married Rose Clark in 1978 and they had two children. The family enjoyed going to gymkhana horse shows. Steve and Rose were divorced in 2000.
