Stephen Angelo Campetti, 70, of Lee passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022.
He was born in Great Barrington on November 28, 1951, the son of Stephen Angelo Campetti, Sr,. and Zoa Pratt Campetti. He graduated from Monument Mountain High School in 1970 and from Nathaniel Hawthorne College in 1974.
Steve was a legend in the Berkshires restaurant scene - he began his career bartending at the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge, and later co-owned The Rainbow Restaurant in Pittsfield with his former wife Patricia Harper before returning to the Red Lion as Food and Beverage Manager. He spent the next two decades in various hospitality roles, and most recently Steve had delighted guests from behind the bar at Number Ten in Great Barrington.
He enjoyed antiquing, military history, and travel, and loved to live life in the moment. Anyone who ran into Steve around town or shared a drink with him at one of his favorite spots was always in for a good time. He was a blast to be around and never minced words, nor suffered fools; he was always unapologetically himself. His humor, warmth, and incredible storytelling will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his two daughters; Casey Campetti and wife Lora, of Pepperell, and Sara Campetti and partner Adam, of Boston; his sister Jane Angelini and husband John, of Great Barrington; his twin brother Bruce Campetti, of Pittsfield; and his brother Tony Campetti and wife Becky, of West Stockbridge. Steve also leaves behind his loving girlfriend/partner-in-crime Kristin DeRosa as well as aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In Steve's honor, remember to be gracious to all you meet, and always tip generously.
The family will receive friends for light refreshments on Wednesday, August 17 from 4-7 p.m. in the Red Lion Inn Hitchcock Room. Private services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in Steve's memory to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) https://www.madd.org/donate-now/make-honormemorial-gift-today/ or the Jimmy Fund www.jimmyfund.org/gift.
