Stella Jane Franklin, age 101, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. Stella was born August 21, 1918 in Freedom, Indiana to J. Mark and Nina Needy, the eldest of four children.
Stella retired from Indiana Bell Telephone Company after 21 years of service. She was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Bloomington Chapter, Indiana Society of Mayflower Descendants, American Legion Auxiliary, and Eastern Star Montezuma Chapter. Stella was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Survivors are her five children - Sam (Ann) Hall of Fairfield Glade, TN, Suzanne (Wayne) Trisler, Bloomington, IN, Mary Jane Wilcox, Spencer, IN, Nancy (Lowell) Bailey, Hendricksville, IN, and Sally J. Callahan, Bloomington, IN, grandchildren Sarah, Chris, Thom, Mandie, Henry, Jesse, Judson, Brandon, and Ashley, 15 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband and father of their children Henry E. Hall, former husband Wilber J. Franklin, two grandsons - Ben Hall and Joseph Meadows, son-in-law Hugh E. Wilcox, her parents, sister Leah Galloway, and twin brothers Robert and Richard Needy.
Private family graveside services were held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Clear Creek Cemetery.
The family would like to express deep appreciation and thankfulness to the entire staff at Garden Villa Bloomington for their care and compassion.
