Stefan Andrew Skibicki, 51, from Cheshire, passed away on June 8, 2022, surrounded by his family after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Stefan was born on March 24, 1971, in Connecticut, to Ronald Skibicki and the late Lorraine (Gambicini) Skibicki. After graduating, he joined the United States Air Force and served for four years in a multitude of locations, during which time he served during the Gulf War as a munitions system specialist.
After honorably serving, he returned to Connecticut and worked at his family-owned business, Closets by Design. From there, his passion for carpentry and custom woodworking grew exponentially. His love for the craft led him to pursue his own path in the field. His self-owned business was known as Custom Carpentry by Stefan.
To know him was to love him. His charismatic nature and love for adventure endeared him to everyone he met and those he came across. He was the kind of person who saw the best in you, even if you couldn't see it yourself. He would hold a conversation with you for hours and hours about anything and everything.
His talent, creativity, and attention to detail didn't only lend itself to his work. He was a gifted poet who loved artistic expression and music. Aside from his adoring wife, his greatest treasure was his motorcycle.
Stefan is survived by his loving wife, Marisol; his son Stephen; his son and daughter-in-law Michael and Olivia; his father, Ronald; his sister, Christina; his sister and brother-in-law Michele and Andy Tirado; his sisters-in-law, Liza Rosado, Millie Rivera, and Lissette Rosado; his brother-in-law Terrence Thompson; his mother-in-law Milagros Colon; father-in law Rene Rosado; his uncle, Craig Gambicini and his wife Robin; his uncle, Thomas Skibicki II; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Lorraine (Gambicini) Skibicki; sister-in-law Melinda Rosado-Thompson; and grandparents.
A celebration of life will take place privately at a later date. His final wishes were entrusted to Abbey Cremation Services in Rocky Hill.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Masonicare Home Hospice of Wallingford.
