Stanley Barnes We rejoice with our Dad, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother and friend as he moves on to his eternal rest with Christ. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday June 3rd, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery in Stanton, TX with Rev. David Harp officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday June 2nd, 2022 at Gilbreath Funeral Home in Stanton, Texas. Stanley Barnes was born January 21, 1933 in Fisher County, TX to Amos & Mary Barnes. He and his family moved to Stanton, TX in 1951. Stanley served in the Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955 before being honorably discharged. Stanley married the love of his life, Sarah Louder Barnes on August 6th, 1955 after falling in love on a blind date only 3 months prior. Stanley and Sarah were happily married for 61 years. Stanley, known for his incredible work ethic, was a valued employee at Cap Rock Electric for 40 years. He began in 1952, long before excavators and pole sets were popularized. Work was done by hand and only by men with a certain resolve. Stanley's skills grew along with the company and he soon became a foreman of the High Voltage Department. Stanley was forced into a reluctant and early retirement in 1990 due to a work related injury, but his legacy lived on in the company. For Stanley, retirement didn't mean less work. But, it did give him more time to enjoy his family and friends. Every year he grew an extensive garden that family and friends were fortunate to enjoy. Stanley loved fishing and enjoying the catch with a traditional fish fry surrounded by the ones he loved. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Rodney Hale of Tarzan, TX; son and daughter- in-law, Gary and Rhonda Barnes of Abilene, TX; four grandchildren and their spouses, Brandi and Ryan Grant of O'Donnell, TX; Joshua and Emily Barnes of Richardson, TX; Heather and Jobe Christon of Lenorah, TX; and Krista and Jarrett Owens of Odessa, TX; one brother Donal Barnes of Mineral Wells and his pride and joy his 12 great grandchildren.
