Sondra Baird Roddy, 73, went to be with her Lord and Savior May 3, 2022 after a heroic battle with ovarian cancer. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Dr. Lowell Roddy; sons, David Roddy of Portland, TN, and Sean Roddy (Gina) of Winchester, KY; and daughter, Alicia Roddy Olsen (John) of Lexington, KY. She has three grandchildren, Thalia Roddy of Winchester, and Grayson and Jacob Roddy of Portland. She was predeceased by her sisters, Cynthia Bell and Laraine Mitchell, both of Memphis, TN. Sondra was an avid musician, having played piano and organ in several Army chapels during Lowell's career. She also loved gardening. Her neighbors often commented about the beauty of her yard gardens. In her last days, she enjoyed seeing the spring renewal of the neighborhood. A consummate educator, Sondra had master's degrees in biology and mathematics. She was teacher of the year at Nashville State Community College and Richland School District, South Carolina. She continued teaching to the age of 70, and cherished moments tutoring her grandchildren in math.
