Sirkka Hellikki Salma was born in Punkalaidun, Finland on 5/19/35, and died
on 2/9/18 in Torrance, CA at age 82. She was a graduate of high school and
confirmed in Lutheran Church in Finland. She moved from Finland to
Torrance, CA in 1965 where she made a home with her husband, Kaarlo
Salma, and her stepson, Richard Salma. She became a naturalized US
citizen in 1967, and also recieved Finnish citizenship in 2008. She was a
frequent volunteer for the city of Torrance, and a supporter of The March of
Dimes, American Cancer Assoc., VFW, USO, Boy's Club, Humane Society
and others. She was preceded in death by her mother, Aili Saarinen, her
father, Martti Saarinen, her uncle Eero Saarinen, her brothers, Pentti, Leo and
Ossi and her husband, Kaarlo Salma. She is survived by sisters Marja
Heikkilä and Senja Sundvall, niece Sirpa Sundvall, nephew Mika Heikkilä and
his sons Tuomas and Markus, niece's sons Mikko and Lauri Palonen and her
stepson Richard Salma. Sirkka loved animals, and contributions
may be made to Carson Animal Shelter, Gardena, CA.
