It is with the deepest regret that we announce the passing of Sidney Diamond on April 3, 2022. Sid was born in Philadelphia, PA to Sadie Diamond (nee Steinberg) and Martin Diamond. Sid graduated from Frankford High School and he went on to graduate from Pennsylvania State University with both BA and MBA degrees. Sid met his wife Sandra Diamond (nee Friedman) at Penn State and they were happily married for 58 years.
Sid served in the US Army as a reservist and was honorably discharged in 1970. He came from very humble beginnings and rose to heights in the business world that he never imagined as a young man from northeast Philadelphia. Sid's first job was with Prudential Insurance and as a younger member of the team they put him in charge of a recently purchase piece of equipment called a mainframe computer.
Sid's career trajectory and the rise of the use of computers in major businesses skyrocketed together. Sid's corporate career included working for Merck, Hoffman LaRoche, Bristol Myers, and reached its apex when he became Chief Information Officer of Black and Decker. Sid didn't stay retired long before opening up his own information technology consulting firm. As a consultant, he helped develop new IT innovations for major multinational companies in the US and Europe.
Sid retired a second time and enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with his grandchildren, watching Penn State Football and with his many friends, participating in domino games, discussion groups and running a financial roundtable for his friends.
Besides his wife, Sandy, Sid is survived by his son, Saul Diamond and his daughter-in-law Karin, of New York, NY and his daughter, Rachel Diamond Adler and his son-in-law Arthur of Owning Mills, MD, his five grandchildren; Matthew Goldbloom, Allison Jill Goldbloom, Dara Diamond, Daniel Diamond, Jared Diamond, and his brother, George Diamond and his wife Belinda of Jacksonville, FL
