Shoji Fukawa

Shoji Fukawa passed away on May 10, 2022 at the age of 81. He was born in Japanese occupied Manchuria in 1940 and grew up in Ehime prefecture in Shikoku, Japan. He graduated from Kwansei Gakuin University with a degree in journalism and emigrated to Hawaii in 1970. Shoji worked in the tourism and insurance industries in Honolulu for over 30 years. After he retired, Shoji was active in clubs, including NPO Hawaii Senior Life Association, Mokuyo Gosan Kai, and Hannyato no Kai. He greatly enjoyed the company of his family's dogs and getting to know all the animals in their Halawa Heights neighborhood. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Amy Fukawa, daughter Michele Fukawa (Michael Doblado), and sister Yoshiko Fujino. Private services have been held.
