Shirley E. Wetmore entered into rest on July 11, 2022 at the age of 94. Beloved aunt to Dr. Robert (Sherry) Wetmore. Dear great aunt of Allison Wetmore, Austin Wetmore, and Branson Wetmore. Preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lilla Wetmore as well as her brother William Wetmore. Shirley prided herself on her career as a Kindergarten teacher in the Dearborn Public Schools system. Shirley worked at the Edward E. Snow Elementary School for 45 years during her entire career. She won many awards for her dedicated nature including the 1968 Detroit News "My Favorite Teacher" Award, the 1974 American National Red Cross Certificate for outstanding service to youth in school and community health programs, and the 1979 United Foundation "Heart of Gold Award" for her work with the Veterans Administration Medical Association as a Red Cross volunteer logging 7500 hours over 30 years. Shirley left an impact on the community of Dearborn and she will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Interred at Roseland Park Cemetery located in Berkley, Michigan.
