92, passed away Friday, July 12, 2024. Born to Lydia Poole and Van H. Thompson on May 1, 1932, in Tampa, Florida, Shirley grew up in St. Petersburg, Florida, and graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 1950. She attended St. Petersburg Junior College where she met the love of her life, Doug. They married February 1, 1953, and enjoyed a beautiful life together for 66 1/2 years. Shirley was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 70 years and had a love for the Children's Ministry, where she taught for all 70 years. She was absolutely the very best Mom, Grandma, GiGi and Grammy. Shirley is preceded in death by her loving husband, Doug, mother, Lydia (Poole) Thompson, father Van H. Thompson, brothers Van and John Thompson and brother-in-law Denny Bolin. Shirley is survived by her son, Greg (Marybeth), daughter, Penny Reedy (Larry), daughter Elizabeth Snyder (Chris), son Kent (Beth), daughter Nancy Kachurik (Mike); 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister Carol Bolin; brother-in-law Jim Mason (Sam); and many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be held Sunday, July 21st at 1:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church, with burial at 3:00pm at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park and reception immediately following back at Calvary Baptist Church.
