Shirley M. Sorrill, age 86, of Liberty, died Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at 7:44 am in her home.
Shirley was born April 29, 1936, in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Adolf and Edna Schnell Hillebrenner. She married Donald E. Sorrill on August 7, 1955, in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2015.
Shirley was a volunteer and member of numerous organizations and clubs. She was a Board Member of the Pork Association Women of Illinois, member of United Methodist Women's Group, a square dancer with Campers Stampers, a member of the Adams County Home Extension, and loved camping in her Newmar Camper. She was also a 4-H leader for the Five Pointers 4-H Club.
She was an excellent seamstress, loved cooking and canning her own food, gardening, and selling her farm raised eggs. Most importantly, Shirley loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her five children, Mike (Kathy) Sorrill of Liberty, IL, Pamela (Danny) Fessler of Quincy, Cindy Sorrill of Liberty, IL, Mark (Terry) Sorrill of Liberty, IL, David (Kelly) Sorrill of Fowler, IL; ten grandchildren, Melissa (John Entrup) Sorrill, Amanda (Bryan) Willing, Jacob (Tara Scott) Sorrill, Angie Hultz, Andrea (Ben Huff) Fessler, Danielle (Nathan Carlton) Fessler, Heather (Donald) Riley, Stephanie (John) Riley, Megan (Mark) Schlepphorst, and Tanner Sorrill; ten great-grandchildren; her brother, Donald Hillebrenner, of Quincy; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings, Herb Hillebrenner, Dorothy Erke, Evelyn Green, and Lucille Wiskirchen.
Services: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Lois Sorrill officiating.
Entombment: Quincy Memorial Park Mausoleum, Quincy, Illinois.
Visitation: 9:00 - 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
