Shirley C. Sheridan, 89, of Hanover, PA, and formerly of Chester, NJ passed away peacefully October 11, 2025.
Born July 16, 1936, Shirley Anne was the daughter of William and Cassie M. (Maris) Cashman and grew up in Lancaster. Shirley was the devoted and loving wife of "Ted" Edward T. Sheridan, Jr. sharing 52 years of marriage and adventures until his passing in May 2009.
Shirley graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Gettysburg College. She worked as an administrator for several businesses, retiring from The Peer Group of Florham Park, NJ before relocating to Hanover, PA in 2000.
Shirley was dedicated to and volunteered for many organizations. She was a member of the Chi Omega sorority at Gettysburg College. During the 1970's and 80's she was the President of the Junior League - Morristown, NJ, President of the Morris County Child Care and Development Council, President of Planned Parenthood of Northwest, NJ and was appointed by the Morris County Board of Freeholders to a Blue Ribbon Panel to study and recommend improvements in the county's criminal justice system. In the Hanover area, Shirley found pleasure volunteering at the Homewood Library and Hanover Hospital, delivering Meals on Wheels, and working with Ted assisting at the cold-weather shelter.
Shirley and Ted enjoyed sailing on a variety of boats they owned over the years. Vacation time was often spent on the waters of coastal New England or supporting the horse show activities of their daughters. Shirley was well travelled, enjoying trips to Europe, Bermuda, the Caribbean and Florida. She loved spending time gardening, reading and enjoying music, especially attending concerts at Carnegie Hall.
Survivors include son, Andrew E. Sheridan and wife Lisa Pierce of Holmes Beach, FL; Daughters, Linda A. Sheridan and Laura J. Sheridan both of Frenchtown, NJ; brother, Alan M. Cashman and wife Pam of Hanover, PA., and many family and friends.
Shirley requested cremation and no organized service. Memorial contributions may be made to the 'Hospice Program', VNA of Hanover and Spring Grove, 440 N. Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
