Shirley Fay Shelton, 78 of Chestertown, passed away on March 12, 2022 at Cadia Health Care, Annapolis, MD
Shirley was born on October 23, 1943, daughter of the late Roland R. and Dorothy Jackson Thompson. She was raised in Barclay, until moving to Missouri for 10 years where she raised her family. She returned to Maryland in 1974 and in 1989 she moved to Queen Anne's County. Shirley worked for Campbell Soup from 1983 until its closing in 1995, where she then provided day care to area children. She enjoyed her retirement and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Shirley was a fan of College basketball, the Lady Terrapins and the Baltimore Orioles. She enjoyed quiet rides in the country and game shows, especially Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her longtime companion Thomas Carroll Hadaway, Jr., a brother, Roland R. Thompson and 2 grandchildren, Jared and Jessica Shelton.
Shirley is survived by her children, Roger 'Tom' Shelton of Chestertown, Ronda Seel (Jeff) of Iberia, MO, Tracy Shelton of Columbia, MO, Stacy Shelton (Kelly) and Randy Shelton (Debbie) both of Hawkeye, MO, Teresa Kruhm (George) of Crumpton, MD and Tammy Sheppard of Wilmington, DE; 11 grandchildren, Emma Kruhm, George Kruhm III, Dante Truxon, Kayla Truxon-Sheppard, Jeremy, Sarah and Megan Seel and Joshua, Jacob, Jenna and Brittany Shelton; 20 great grandchildren; a special nephew Greg Thompson and extended family and friends.
A viewing will be held on Friday, March 25 from 11 to 12 pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, Galena, MD where funeral service will begin at 12 pm. Burial will follow in Templeville, Cemetery.
