Shirley E. Parsons, 92, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2021 at her son, David's home of natural causes. She was born in Manchester at Notre Dame Hospital on Sept. 11, 1928 to Helmar & Sophie (Gossler) Edstrom. She attended local schools and then she worked at St. Theresa's Manor for over 30 years as a Nurse's Aide.
She was a life-long resident of Manchester and parishioner of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and was the oldest living member. Shirley was a long-time Sunday school teacher and a vacation bible school volunteer. She enjoyed traveling and especially loved to disco dance. She also had the love for writing poetry and was a runner-up in the NH Senior Citizens Beauty Pageant.
She is survived by three sons: Robert and his wife, Rebecca Greenwood, John and his wife, Martha Greenwood, and David and his girlfriend, Kristina Hernon, a daughter, Carol Isaacs and her husband, Michael, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 673 Weston Rd., Manchester, NH 03103.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 11:30-12:30 Durning Bykowski and Young funeral home 285 Manchester street corner beech street in Manchester followed by a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery, 765 Brown Ave in Manchester.
