Shirley A. Motz , 83 May 27, 1937 - Mar 23, 2021 Mrs. Shirley A. (Reese) McAllister Motz, 83, of Waynesboro, PA, went to Heaven Tuesday evening, March 23, 2021, to the enjoy the life won for her through the death and resurrection of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Born May 27, 1937 in Boonsboro, MD, she was the daughter of the late James Raymond, Sr. and Emma Marie (Forman) Reese. Mrs. Motz was a graduate of Boonsboro High School with a Steno-Graphic Commercial Diploma. She later attended American Savings Institute in Chicago, IL, Hagerstown, MD Junior College and Vo-Tech, Chambersburg. She and her husband of over 42 years, Gilson T. Motz, Jr., were married on September 3, 1978. Mrs. Motz was employed in the Savings and Loan business for 15 years before owning and operating "Shirley's Loving Hands", a health care agency for 10 years. She retired in 1998 due to ill health. She was a member of Otterbein Church, Waynesboro, where she was involved with the adult choir and Sunday School Class. She taught Sunday School and Bible School for over 40 years. She was past member and Elder of First Christian Church, Hagerstown. She also was a member of Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary and National AARP.
Mrs. Motz worked with the deaf, receiving and transmitting messages. She enjoyed helping those in need, praying for others and serving as a witness for Christ. She enjoyed interior decorating, attending auctions, selling on E-Bay, gardening, attending Bible Study, cooking, singing at weddings, funerals, hymns sings and on TV (in Maryland, VA, WV & PA), with her sisters, known as the "Reese Sisters". Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandson. She loved using her talents for the honor and glory of her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Ronald E. McAllister, Jr. and his wife, Connie of Williamsport, MD, Kevin J. McAllister and his wife, Karen of Waynesboro, Penny J. Weaver and her husband, Doug of Gettysville, PA, six grandchildren, Christina & Justin McAllister, Matia and McCartney Foreman, Mileigh Weaver and Karson Miller; one great-grandson, Dawson Bakner; two sisters, her twin, Nancy Taylor of Pittsburgh, PA and Mary Rebecca Higman and her husband, Rob of Boonsboro; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine M. Newcomer & JoAnn E. Lum and two brothers, Rev. James R. Reese, Jr. and Rev. Don E. Reese. Services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Sunday, March 28, 2021 in Otterbein Chapel, 801 Park St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Dave Besecker officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, Sunday afternoon, in the chapel. The family requests the omission of flowers.
