MAKAY - Shirley Ann (Haines), 82, of Somerset, died on June 6, 2021 at Countryside Personal Care Home, Friedens, surrounded by her loving family. Born July 11, 1938 in Jerome. Daughter of William and Mary (Penner) Haines. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Mike Makay; brothers, Earl, Wendell, William, Carl, Harold, Jack, Howard, Robert and Walter Haines; sister, Wilma Hancher; niece, Debra Baker and close family friend Kim Nicholson. Survived by children, Cindy Zoodie and her husband Joe of Gray, Patty Makay of Somerset, and Alexis Baker (niece that Shirley raised after her sister died) and her husband Richard of Somerset; grandchildren, Michael Makay, Bradley Barndt and his wife Jessica, Matthew Makay, James Barndt and girlfriend Carly Barnhart and Zachary Barndt; great grandchildren, Kale Makay, Gavin Barndt, Farah Makay, Weston Barndt, and Rex Barndt. Also survived by great nieces Melissa Raygor and her husband Thomas and Heather Kiraly and husband Jason. Shirley was a graduate of Conemaugh Township High School. She enjoyed traveling and visiting lighthouses. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley was loved by everyone she met and gave great joy to those whose lives she touched. Special thanks to everyone at Countryside Personal Care Home and Heartland Hospice for the extraordinary care that they provided to Shirley.
