Shirley Jean Lemons

Shirley Jean (Louy) Lemons, age 82, of Collierville, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022. Shirley was born September 8, 1939 in Brookland, Arkansas.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Doyle Lemons; son, Kip Lemons (Andrea) of Collierville; daughter, Kendra Schenkel (David) of Brentwood, Tennessee; brother, Cliff Louy of Jonesboro, Arkansas; sister, Doris McHalffey of Hardy, Arkansas; and grandchildren, Courtney Tarena (Dante), Cody Lemons (Dani), Kayla Fitzhugh (Adam) all of Collierville, and Luke and AnnaClaire Schenkel of Brentwood. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Melora and Joey Tarena, Rowan and Rori Fitzhugh, and Lochlan Lemons and friend and caregiver Joanne Fisher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Lorene Louy of Brookland. She spent most of her life in Memphis and Collierville. She attended Central Church of Collierville and was a member of the Ambassador Sunday School Class. She owned and managed a number of Gold Crown stores including Dee's Hallmark and Dot's Hallmark, where she developed many lasting relationships and friendships.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and was deeply loyal to her family and closest friends. She was a very private person and will be remembered for her outspoken approach, her independent nature, and her dedication to her family.

A visitation for Shirley will be held on Monday, May 16 from 5:30 until 7:30 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at 10:00 AM, at Central Church, 2005 E Winchester Blvd, Collierville, TN with a visitation beginning at 9:00 AM.

Graveside committal services will be held on Tuesday, at 2:30 PM, at Pine Log Cemetery, Brookland, AR.

Her favorite charities included Smile Train, The Make-A-Wish Foundation, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
