Shirley June Barry Hyder, 85, departed this world and began her new post as one of the accompanist for Heavens Choir on January 10, 2022. She was born to Earl & Hazel Barry on August 31, 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was proceeded in death by her husband Billy H. Hyder, her parents, as well as her brother Paul Barry. She is survived by her three sons, Mickey (Malesa) of Lexington, KY, Jim (Mary) of Florence, KY and Jeff (Karla) of Cleveland, TN; eight grandchildren, Rachel (Jaime) Smith, Matt (Amy) Hyder, Allison, Jacob, Max and Alex Hyder, Becky Faulconer, Whitney Morris, and eight great-grandchildren, Morgan, Lewis, Kannon, Carter, Hannah, Sadie, Matthew, and Aiden. She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law, Louise Barry as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was known for her love of music and the gift that God gave her both at the piano and organ. She started using her musical talent for the Lord at the age of 9 years. For many years she was the organist at Temple Baptist Church, Cincinnati, the sub pianist/organist at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Cincinnati, Ohio. Her most recent music ministry was at David's Fork Baptist Church, Lexington, KY where she has served for the past 8 years as their organist. Shirley taught private piano lessons for many years. Countless numbers of families have been blessed by her music both at weddings and funerals. She played for many soloist, quartets, gospel groups, and choirs. Shirley loved the Lord, each morning she arose to study the Word of God and pray. She taught Sunday School at each of the above mentioned churches, as well as Vacation Bible School, and mission organizations. Shirley served as the executive secretary for many companies over her career including her last position at Empke Moving and Storage in Cincinnati, Ohio. She also managed the Berean Christian Store in Cincinnati as well as holding other positions in her career. Milward Funeral Directors are entrusted with Shirley's arrangements. Visitation will be Sunday, January 16th, from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm with funeral service to follow at David's Fork Baptist Church, 3245 Cleveland Road Lexington, KY. There will be a second visitation on Monday, January 17th from 11:00 am - 12 pm at the Strawser & Staley Funeral Home, 9503 Kenwood Rd. Blue Ash, Ohio with a short service beginning at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the organ preservation fund at David's Fork Baptist Church, Lexington, KY.
