Shirley Hazel-Schaunaman

WALKERTON - Shirley A. (Hershberger) Hazel-Schaunaman of Walkerton passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Briarcliff Health & Rehab in South Bend. She was born on July 14, 1934, in Garrett, IN to the late George and Irene (Starner) Hershberger. Shirley was 88 years-old at the time of her death.

Shirley lived in the area for most of her life. In 1960 in the town of Walkerton she married the late William Hazel. On January 6, 2001, she married the late Merle Schaunaman in Koontz Lake. Shirley was a member of the Koontz Lake Missionary Church. Most of all, Shirley cherished her family dearly and had a large influence on all three of her granddaughters.

She is survived by two sons Bill (Peter) Hazel of South Bend and George (Laura) of Coldwater, MI; two daughters Mary Bowers and Martha "Marty" (Jerry) Dollahan of Walkerton; three grandchildren Alisha Williams, Lauren (Matt) Smith and Stacy Dollahan; one great granddaughter Maddison Smith; and one sister Jan Berrier of Lakeville. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one daughter Elizabeth Hazel and one brother Richard Hershberger.

Visiting hours will be from Noon-1 P.M. EDT Friday, October 7, 2022, at the Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel. Funeral Services will be at 1 P.M.
