Shirley G. Brant, 86, of Rockwood, went to see Jesus on January 12, 2020. Born November 11, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Luther J. and Melva (Jones) Grimm. She is also preceded in death by her sister Nancy Grimm; and brother Luther J. Grimm II. Shirley is survived by her husband of 66 years, William J. Brant of Rockwood. She was the loving mother of her children Donna (Brant) Martin, David Brant and wife Carol, Dean Brant and wife Kristi, Daniel Brant and wife Kathy, and Drew Brant and wife Wendy; also grandmother to 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Connie Strichik and Kathy Meredith and husband James; and brother Keith Grimm and wife Kathy. Shirley was a retired LPN who worked at Somerset Hospital, and later, the Somerset State Hospital. She was a member of the Forbes Road Daughters of the American Revolution and was a former Regent of that group. She also was a member of the Mt. Union Civil War Camp 502, and a member of the Somerset Garden Club where she served as President and Secretary for several terms. She was a member of the Milford United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on Saturday at the Milford United Methodist Church.
