Born Shirley Ann McCroskey, Oct 25, 1939 in Washington, DC .
Died March 25, 2020 at Casey House Hospice in Rockville, MD.
Who didn't meet Grammy that didn't love her!
She was raised in Falls church, VA by parents Arthur & Thelma McCroskey & had one sister Ruthie. She Graduated from McLean High School. She met her husband Robert (Bobby) Lee Fox in high school at a dance in Herndon and were dancing partners their whole lives. They Married in 1957, moving to Old Sterling, VA to raise their 2 kids. They were together for 59 years when she lost him 3 years ago. They truly did complete each other.
She was always busy, first working at the CIA, then working as a rural postal carrier while the kids were in school, whether she was planning a fun outing for the family, girl scout leader for her daughter, playing in a softball league with her friends, gardening with Bobby, mowing their 10 acres in Harpers Ferry, Dancing at the weekly dances at Calvin Run, zip lining at the age of 75 with her grandkids, and of course the red hats, she loved life and never stopped. Shirley loved people and made everyone feel welcome. You could never go to her house without eating something! She was known for her Rum Pound Cake and deviled eggs. You always had to take something with you before leaving especially in the summer when the garden vegetables were ready. She would talk your ear off and wouldn't let you leave. Always remembering everyone's birthday and anniversaries and feeding every animal that she came across. She turned 80 in October and celebrated with the family and grandkids at a special dinner and the whole restaurant sang happy birthday to her. She was a strong person, fighting till the end. She set such a good example of how to treat people and have fun in life! She will be dancing in Heaven with Bobby now.
She will live on thru her loved ones, son Rob Fox of Pompano Beach, Florida, her daughter & son in law Debi Fox, and Alireza Honarkar of Washington, DC and her 2 grandsons which meant everything to her, Shaw Arya Honarkar & Sterling Fox Honarkar, & amazing nieces and nephews.
