Shirley Marie Bilhartz, of Duncanville, Texas passed away on March 13, 2021 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Shirley was born in Hallettsville, Texas on March 22, 1935 where she lived with her beloved grandparents. After spending much of her childhood there, she moved to Houston and attended Incarnate Word Academy. Shortly after graduation, she met the love of her life, James Rohn Bilhartz, Sr. and they were married on January 30, 1955. Shirley was passionate about many things in life including travel, languages, Texas A&M, and her many beloved pets, but her two greatest passions were her family and her faith. She was a devout Catholic, and a founding member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She loved spending time with her large family and especially loved hosting holiday get togethers. She embodied all the attributes of a perfect wife, mother, and "Granny". She was deeply religious, thoughtful, hardworking, loving, and generous. She made the world a better place for so many and will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her brother, Connie Holden (La Juan); her daughters, Anna Bilhartz Roberts (Kelly), Susan Bilhartz Majors (Donald); daughter-in-law, Mary Bilhartz; sons, Dale Bilhartz (Cynthia), Dr. David Bilhartz (Dianna), John Bilhartz; along with eighteen beloved grandchildren, Jennifer, Danny, Jessica (Brian), Stephanie (Brian), Dale II, Jacqueline, Jamie, David II, Sara (Jeff), Mary Ann (John), Rachael (Justin), Steven, James, Katherine, Rebecca, Isabella, Ashlyn, Allison; and six great-grandchildren, Parker, Jeff, Jr., John, Katherine, Davis, and Daniel.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, James Rohn Bilhartz, Sr., her son, James Rohn Bilhartz, Jr., her parents, and grandparents.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 18, 2021, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Duncanville, Texas. Burial will follow at Little Bethel Memorial Park. Rosary and Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville.
