Marie was born in Morganton GA on April 25, 1935 where she grew up the daughter of a farmer and well driller. Marie loved telling stories of growing up on the farm and many years later her and other family members pitched in to build a cabin on the original home site. She met her husband Gil while working at Harry's Steakhouse in July of 1964 and later got married January 2, 1966. While in the Army Gil was stationed in Wurzburg, Germany where the two lived before returning to the states. They moved back to Riverton, WY where Gil took back his job as a Uranium miner. They enjoyed spending time with their friends and seeing the beauty of Wyoming. Upon leaving Riverton, Gil and Marie moved to Ringgold, GA where Gil took a job with the Catoosa County Health department and Marie took care of their home and children. They had two sons and made quite a life for themselves while residing in the same home for over 50 years to this very day. Marie had many friends and spent fun times playing Trivial Pursuit, cooking big dinners, and playing heated games of Jeopardy with Gil and the boys. Marie enjoyed tending a big garden yearly that included a variety of vegetables and beautiful flowers. She loved collecting antiques and vintage Post/Greeting cards. Marie loved to bake and was famous for her Peanut Butter cakes, pies, and angel biscuits. Sunday afternoons were known for gatherings at her house to share stories and big meals with her boys, their wives, and her beautiful granddaughters. She attended Ringgold First Baptist where her sons Monty and Jony were baptized in the summer of 1984 and she built many lasting relationships with her Sunday school classmates. She will be missed by all those who knew her.
