Shiela "Kay" Nolen, age 80, passed away November 28, 2020 after a long battle with Sarcoidosis of the lungs. She was born September 8, 1940 in Decatur, Texas to Paul and Shiela Hawkins.
Kay (Shate / KayKay) loved her friends and family with all of her being. She created beautiful beaded stockings for family and friends, painted and was an extremely creative and talented person. She also loved to watch her grandchildren in their activities whether it be golf, baseball, football, dancing, or cheering. She was their biggest fan. She proudly boasted of all their accomplishments and more than a few times Facebook posted their pictures.
For many years Kay worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Austin, Texas. However her work writing and editing English papers, was never done. The daughter of an English teacher and a tutor herself, Kay was always the one to correct your grammar and fix your papers.
Kay was passionate for her friends and family. She loved with all of her heart and never held her tongue. You always knew where you stood with her, but always knew you were fully loved by her as well.
Kay is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Tom Sessions, sister Shara Howell; her three children Ronda Jones, Breck Nolen and wife Beatsy, Tiffani Hester and husband David; grandchildren Eric Jones, Courtney Jones, Taylor Nolen, Camille Jones, Stratton Nolen, Nolen Hester, Holden Hester, and Hayden Hester; plus many nieces and nephews and adopted family.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020. Her service and dedication will be shared with family and friends via social media on December 19, 2020. In Lieu of flowers, you may make a contribution in her honor to her favorite charity, the Wounded Warrior Project or to St. David's Episcopal Church in Austin, TX.
"Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." Proverbs 31:31
