Remembering Our Mother
Sheryl Renee Duncan Dewey, of Orem, passed away on January 6, 2004 after a long battle with chronic illness. She was 49.
Sheryl was born in the United States Naval Hospital on the U.S. Territory of Guam on October 12, 1954. She married Rickie Lee Mathis; they were later divorced. She married Robert Earl Smith; they were later divorced. Sheryl and Lewis Dewey were united in marriage December of 1994.
She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joys came from spending time with her family.
She loved working in her garden, singing, and cooking and was an avid reader. Our home was always filled with music, joy and laughter.
She loved with every fiber of her being and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Mom has been welcomed into God's loving arms. As we grieve, we rejoice, for she will never again feel a single ounce of pain. She has returned home and is reunited with her parents, and those who have passed before her.
She is survived by her husband, Lewis Dewey, Orem; her two daughters and son, Michelle Renee Hancock (Rob), West Valley City; Sarah Anne Smith Humphrey (Tonii), West Jordan; and Robert Daniel Smith, Orem; three grandchildren: Adam Michael Hay (6), Benjamin Daniel Smith (6 months), and McKenzie Ann Renee Hancock (to be born); four step-grandchildren: Zachary Hancock (7), Antonia (7), Cash (5) and William (3) Humphrey; two sisters and two brothers: Marilyn Eldridge, Lindon; Dennis Duncan, Orem; Brynn Duncan, Orem; and Jane Elizabeth Johnson, Las Vegas, N V; She was preceded in death by her mother and father: LaRae Garis Stewart Gillman and Howard Napoleon Duncan.
Services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Lakeridge 1st and 13th Wards, 575 S. 400 W. Orem. Friends may call Friday from 6:30 to 8:30 at the church or one hour before the services. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
