Sheryl Elaine Bendickson, 74, of Huntsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, surrounded by her family. Sheryl was born in Russell, Kansas in 1947 and spent most of her youth and teenage years growing up in Minnesota, where she graduated from Frost High School. Sheryl attended Augustana College and Iowa State University, where she received a degree in Home Economics Education. The summer after her junior year of high school, she met her soon-to-be husband and lifetime partner, Marc. They were married on June 3, 1967, while still in school at Iowa State and spent nearly 55 wonderful years together. After college, she and Marc spent a short time in New Jersey, where she taught Junior High Home Economics. She and Marc settled in Huntsville, where they put down roots and raised their family. Sheryl loved being a full-time wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker and played an active role in supporting Marc's career as an Electrical Engineer and local business leader. She loved hosting gatherings for friends and family, cooking, gardening, working on antique radios, and going to her kids' and grandkids' ballgames. Most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was continuously active in her local church community. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Denise. Survivors include her husband, Marc; children, Jon Bendickson (Michelle) of Madison, and Amanda Burton (Glenn) of Grant; seven grandchildren, Caroline (19), Andrew (15), Caleb (14), Micah (8), Samuel (6), Malachi (4), and Titus (1); brothers, Tim Curtiss (Dawn), Jim Curtiss and David Curtiss (Angie); sister, Denette Curtiss; brother-in-law, Paul Bendickson (Sandy); and sister-in-law, Beth Lundquist. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, June 3rd, in the main sanctuary at Whitesburg Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 10:00 am Saturday, June 4th, in the main sanctuary at Whitesburg Baptist Church, with Pastor Darryl Craft officiating. Burial will be immediately after the service at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Whitesburg Baptist Church, The Enrichment Center, and Hospice Family Care.
