Sherry (Norton) Anderson, 69-year-old resident of Temple Hills, MD passed away peacefully on February 5, 2024, after arriving in Minnesota where she had wanted to spend her final days. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10 at 11:00 AM at Grace Covenant Church in Little Falls. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM. Internment will be later that afternoon at Greenwood Cemetery in Sauk Centre.
Sherry Elaine Anderson was born in Paynesville, MN, to Dale and Ruby (Gehlhar) Norton on June 23, 1954. She was the 6th of 13 children. The family moved to Sauk Centre, MN where Sherry graduated in 1972. She moved to the Washington DC area and met and married Tom Anderson and had one child Ron. Sherry worked very hard at all her jobs and retired in 2016 after 30 years at the National Association of Manufacturers as a Senior Specialist in Accounts Payable. She had wonderful coworker friends Belva, Dorette, Tim and others. She was awarded the Ray Dixon Award presented annually to the employee who showed dedication and commitment to NAM in 2008 and a donation was made to Make A Wish Foundation. Besides being a dedicated mom and employee, Sherry was such a fun person to be around with her love for conversation and laughing. While she didn't like to spend money on herself, she was so generous toward others and the Lord's work. She loved to help others and did volunteer work at a food pantry with her friend Brenda. Sherry loved to spend time with her friends and family. Yearly trips to Minnesota had to include time on the tennis court, even if it was just for volleying in her later years. She enjoyed many trips with her siblings, including to Hawaii, the New England states, California, Pennsylvania, New York City, Mexico, several European countries, and more. More recently, Sherry really enjoyed listening to Christian radio and songs, and despite her pain loved the song, "I'm So Blessed" by the band Cain. Sherry will be sorely missed by the many people whom she loved and who loved her, her generosity, her laughter, and her dedication.
Sherry is survived by her son, Ron Anderson and her granddaughters, Jessica and Kelly residing in Maryland; sister-in-law, Alicia Chase of Virginia; siblings, Floyd Norton of Buffalo, MN, Karen Norton of California, Brenda Baird of Grand Rapids, MN, William Norton of Sauk Centre, MN, Ruby (Ken) Toenies of Randall, MN, and Daniel (Emily) Norton of Lakeside, CA; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by Tom Anderson; parents, Dale and Ruby Norton; siblings, Dave Norton, Janice (Richard) Smith, Joyce (Robert) Utne, Ralph Norton, Lawrence Norton, and Robert Norton.
