Sherma Dean Lawrence Shone
January 1, 1930 - December 28, 2021
Sherma Shone, of Bedford, Texas passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021. Sherma was the first baby in Grayson county to arrive in 1930. As an expression of gratitude to the businesses of Sherman, Texas, her parents, Clarence and Nettie Lawrence, named her for the town. She grew up on a farm in a family with 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She told stories of picking cotton and riding horses to school. On Christmas Day 1948, she eloped with the love of her life, Wayne Shone. They lived in Denison, TX, El Dorado, AR, Odessa, TX, Hurst, TX, and then settled in Bedford in 1965. They remained married for 65 years. Wayne preceded her in death in 2014.
Sherma enjoyed camping and boating, although never learned to swim. She liked traveling and seeing the nation in an RV with Wayne. Her first flight in an airplane was a transatlantic flight to Europe, where she saw many things, she thought she could only dream of. She loved getting her family together for holidays and birthdays. She would prepare great feasts with plenty of dessert.
