Sherilyn Beth Merritt
Sherilyn Beth Merritt was born on October 25, 1958 in Vernon, TX to Ronald Dee and Linda Beth (Ramey) Hawley.
Sherilyn was the life of the party and always had lots of stories to tell. She kept her family on their toes with her adventures. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rock Crossing Baptist Church in Grayback, Texas. She graduated from Kermit High School in 1977 and moved to Odessa to begin the next phase of life. Sherilyn worked in Midland for the School District and West Texas Gas. It was during these years, she became a mother to Bethany and Joseph, where she swapped her career for a stay at home mother. Sherilyn was a devoted and loving mother who loved to support others through their troubles. She was a huge supporter of charity organizations like Relay for Life. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Ronald and Linda Hawley.
Sherilyn is survived by her son: Joseph Merritt and girlfriend Savannah of Carlsbad, NM; daughter: Bethany Merritt and fianc? Dawson Flora of Kermit, TX; brother: Greg Hawley and wife Tammy of Carlsbad, NM; and two grandchildren: Wayne Spoke and Jordan Flora.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Honorary pallbearers are Mark Gilliam, Billy Roller, Todd Bell, Rodney Bell, Bobby Arnold, and Dawson Flora. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Deering Nursing Home.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Poor Daddy's Smokehouse in Kermit from 2:30 pm - 4 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2024.
