Sheldon E. Koisti, 75, of Lake Norden, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. No services are planned at this time. Geise Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Sheldon E. Koisti was born on November 27, 1944, in Brookings, SD, the son of Earl and Sally (Kemp) Koisti. He grew up in Lake Norden and was a graduate of Lake Norden High School in 1962. Following graduation, Sheldon worked at Norden Motor Company alongside his dad. He was united in marriage to Darla Kastein on June 21, 1964. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls, where Sheldon worked at Pitts Salvage. In 1970, the family moved back to Lake Norden. Sheldon took ownership of Norden Motor Company and continued to operate the business until the time of is passing.
In his early years, Sheldon and Darla enjoyed golfing. Sheldon also could be found hunting and fishing and later in life, gardening became a hobby of his. Firearms fascinated him, and he traveled the country attending Gun Shows. Sheldon was a member of the Dakota Territory Gun Collectors Association. As much as he liked doing all these things, being home was Sheldon's favorite place to be. He loved his family and always appreciated the time he was able to spend with them.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Darla Koisti of Lake Norden, SD; three children, Shelley (Dick) Jensen of Minneapolis, MN, Barbara (Russell) Halonen of Rosemont, MN and Richard (Amy) Koisti of Volga, SD; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
