A bright, shining star has left us. Shayla Jean Peddy, born September 12, 2003, left us on July 7, 2021. She is survived by her mother Julie Peddy (Everett, WA); her brothers Eric and Cameron (Everett); her birth mother Barbara Hawk and step-father William McCreight of Spokane, WA; her sister Brianna (Spokane) and step-brother Mason (Spokane); her birth father Shawn Jacobs of Marysville; her siblings Charley Dick, Jayson Dick, Shane Jacobs, and Dreyden King (Marysville); her sister by another mother, Samantha Viers of Olympia, WA. Her nieces and nephews Kayden Brevik (Everett), Frank Stajduhar (Olympia) and Amaya Allen-Pernell (Olympia). Her beloved labradoodle, Yankee Doodle Dandy. And the love of her life, Dominic Jacobson (Everett). She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Washington State, the west coast, the Midwest, and east coast.
A celebration of Shaylaundefineds life will be held on Thursday, July 15th at 6 pm at Cedar Cross United Church, 1210 132nd St. SE, Mill Creek, WA. The service will be outdoors so please bring a lawn chair or blanket. We ask that you wear a mask as we do not want any discord regarding who is or is not vaccinated. God gave us free will and we, as a family, wish to celebrate Shaylaundefineds life and leave the social and political strife out of the picture. Shayla will be interred at Hillcrest Cemetery in Six Lakes, MI, in August where she will be watched over by her grandparents Ronald and Myra Peddy, who preceded her in death.
Shayla attended Penny Creek Elementary, Eisenhower Middle School and Cascade High School. She was a lifelong member of Girl Scout Troop #42594. Shayla was bubbly, energetic, loving, loyal and fun. Shayla fought hard to overcome her mental health struggles, but as many families have discovered, the services and support currently available failed her. She will be greatly missed but her family and friends will take on the battle to make changes to these systems so that no other family experiences the loss of a loved one.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations made in Shaylaundefineds memory to the Girl Scout of Western Washington (https://www.girlscoutsww.org/) or Cocoon House (http://www.cocoonhouse.org/). The family thanks all who have watched over Shayla during her struggles.
