How do you know Shavie? Please share your stories and photos, and help spread the word about this page!
On January 3, 2023, Shavie Aguirre Marquez left this earth for her eternal home. It was a long and difficult journey to join her beloved family. She was born to Pedro and Guadalupe Aguirre on March 5, 1932 in Santa Paula. She was the youngest of five children, and she never stopped reminding others that she was the youngest. She was a long-time employee of Ventura County Public Social Services, where she was a receptionist. Shavie, always had an eye for fashion. She was also previously employed by the Broadway department store, whose policy was the "Customer is always right", which she begged to differ, needless to say it was a short employment.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Guadalupe Aguirre, her aunt Cuca Hernandez whom she loved as a second mother, her ex-husband David Marquez, whom she reunited with in later years, her only child, Ron Marquez, who preceded her in death in January 2021. Her siblings, Savina Garcia (Frank) Don Aguirre (Lupe), Josie Lovio-Osuna (Frank Lovio and Henry Osuna), Jess Aguirre (Virginia). She and Josie were in separate-able, they never shopped without buying something they might need, and their respective closets were proof of it. With Shavie's passing our first generation of our Aguirre family comes to a close.
She is survived by Aguirre, Garcia, Lovio, and Marquez nieces and nephews, her goddaughter, Victoria Velasco-DeGuzman.
A very special thank you to her beloved childhood best friend, Fina Arellano who loved and treated her as a sister, who spoiled Shavie during her difficult time and spent Shavie's last days with her at her side. Her previous caretaker, Minnie Esparza who treated her with kindness, patience and love, along with her sister, Pati.
A special thank you to all the staff at Aegis Assisted Living in Ventura, where she resided for two years for sharing their kindness, laughter and patience with her.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00am on Monday, February 6, 2023 at St. Sebastian Church, 235 North 9th St., Santa Paula, Ca. Burial to follow at Pierce Brothers Santa Paula Cemetery in Santa Paula.
