How do you know Sharon? Please share your stories and photos, and help spread the word about this page!
Sharon Sue Murphy Girndt was born on July 2, 1934, in Brownwood, Texas. She was married to William (Bill) Coy Murphy for 22 years until his passing in 1976. They had three children together, Al Murphy, Peggy Norwood, and Suzanne Ball - all of Houston. Sharon was later married to Robert Girndt for 18 joyous, fulfilling and tremendously happy years.
Sharon lived and worked in the Houston area for more than 60 years. Most of her career was spent with the Perkin-Elmer Corporation where she retired after more than 25 years.
More than anything else, people knew Sharon as a loving, generous, kind, and thoughtful person. She was a faithful member at Houston's First Baptist Church for more than forty years. Sharon was a member of the Delphians and a vigorous supporter of Moore's School of Music at U of H. In the last few years of her life, she reminded all of us that she never "went anywhere to have a bad time." Everyone who knew her well would agree with that statement and add that she wanted everyone else to have a good time as well.
Sharon was preceded in death by her husband Bill Murphy and her mother Ollie Mae Pitts.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Girndt; her three children, William Al Murphy, Peggy Elise Norwood and Janice Suzanne Ball; brother, William Allan Clement; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A private family burial service will be held on December 11, 2021 in Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood, Texas. A memorial service will be scheduled in the New Year and friends and family will be notified of the date, time, and location.
