Sharon A. King 80, of Swanzey, NH, passed away on December 13, 2024, at the Cheshire Medical Center Dartmouth Hitchcock Keene.
Her parents, Arthur A. and Florence A. (Mills) McKew welcomed their daughter into the world on February 26, 1944, in Keene, NH. Sharon grew up in Troy, NH and was a 1962 graduate of Troy High School.
She attended Keene State College receiving a bachelor's degree in history in 1982.
Sharon devoted her work career to customer service in the banking industry for 35 years. She worked as branch manager for area banks including the Connecticut River Bank in Charlestown, NH for 20 years. She was a member and past president of the National Association of Safe Deposit.
After her banking career, she started as a volunteer with the Historical Society of NH in Concord, NH. Sharon enjoyed her role there, eventually transitioning to a full-time employee.
Following her retirement in 2008, Sharon and her husband, Richard, moved to Pisgah Forest, NC, returning to the area three years ago.
She enjoyed traveling but when home, she enjoyed reading, drinking a glass of Rock and Rye, and had a special place in her heart for Johnny Mathis.
She will be greatly missed by many, especially her husband of 51 years, Richard P. King, of West Swanzey; a daughter, Diane Neilsen and her husband, Jason, of Marlborough, NH; her grandchildren, Caitlin Bown and her husband, Colm, Ian Neilsen, Jason Neilsen; her great-grandchild, Kingsley Brown; her sister, Kathleen Johnson of Pittsburg, PA; her niece, Beth McKew and her wife, Denise Amann; her nephew, David McKew; and a sister-in-law, Sherry McKew, of Frederick, MD. A brother, A. Arthur McKew, predeceased her.
Services and burial in the Mountain View Cemetery, Troy, NH, will be held privately by the family.
