Sharon Lynch Kimbell, 86, passed away June 2, 2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. She was born March 25, 1936, in Salina, KS, to Bryan and Phyllis (Hamilton) Lynch.
After graduating from Salina High School, she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 1958 from the University of Kansas. She was a loyal member of the university's Pi Beta Phi Sorority and lifetime member of Grace Episcopal Church, Hutchinson, KS.
On April 29, 1961, Sharon married Charles Edward Kimbell, in Salina, KS. They shared nearly 55 years of marriage, prior to his death on April 21, 2016.
Sharon lived a full life. She loved traveling, golfing, playing Bridge at the Art Center or at home with her Bridge group, and attending KU Football and Basketball games. She was ever-present in her children's lives and was an extra-special 'Gram' to her three grandchildren. Sharon created and maintained friendships across the country from all walks of life. Preferring to make a difference behind the scenes, she gave endlessly while rarely expecting anything in return. She, along with her husband, were recognized benefactors of the University of Kansas and the Williams Educational Fund, as well as their beloved community of Hutchinson.
She is survived by: her children, Michael (Michelle) Kimbell of Mission Hills, KS, and Kay (Dan) Almanza of Lawrence, KS; grandchildren, Fischer (fianc?e, Jaden Butcher) Almanza, Ellen Almanza, and Jackson Kimbell; and several extended family members.
Sharon was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; and brother, Bryan H. Lynch.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Grace Episcopal Church, 2 Hyde Park Drive, Hutchinson, KS, with The Reverend Dr. J. Ted Blakley officiating. Burial will follow in the church's columbarium. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grace Episcopal Church or Hutchinson Community Foundation, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
