Sharon Owen DuBois born on Dec. 24, 1944 died peacefully at her home in Lenox MA on Aug. 5, 2022.
She was the wife of John J DuBois, married in Rye, New York in April 1984 and mother of Christopher P DuBois.
She was born in San Francisco, CA and educated there. She received her Nursing Degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1964. After nursing school, she had several jobs associated with Quality Assurance of Medical Practice. First with BC/BS, then the Midwestern VA, and finally as director of Health Care Planning Technology, a federal program that reported to then President Jimmy Carter. She continued her interest in Medical Practice after her marriage in 1984. During this time, she was also active with a group dedicated to saving the original John Jay property in Rye from development.
Early in her life she was involved in music. She played piano and organ and was part of the "Song Weavers" singing with them.
In 1990 she moved to Charleston, South Carolina, with her husband and became a successful real estate agent. After her husband's retirement from the Medical University of South Carolina in 2002 she was appointed by the Episcopal Church as a medical missionary and with her husband they were assigned to developing Medical Clinics in Panama. She returned to the Berkshires in 2012 and since has lived in Lenox.
Her recent memory loss and loss of cognitive functions became an increasing liability during the last year of her life. She died peacefully at home. We are grateful to the wonderful Hospice program that was such a help in her final days.
Her ashes will be placed in the Jay Cemetery in Rye, NY with a small grave side service. May she Rest in Peace
