SFC. Jerry S. "Pappy" Mabrey, Sr., 73, United States Army Retired, of Ridge Spring, SC, husband of Lorraine Sanders Mabrey, entered into rest on Sunday, September 13, 2020.
Born in Greenwood Cty., SC and a resident of the area most of his life, he was a son of the late Theodore "Ted" Mabrey and Nyra Louise Cook. A Vietnam Veteran, he proudly and with honor served his country in the United States Army, retiring as a Sergeant First Class. Brother Mabrey was a member of the Belvedere Masonic Lodge #388, A.F.M. He enjoyed reading, nature, being outdoors and traveling. More than anything however, he enjoyed being with his family.
In addition to his wife and parents, family members include his children, Lisa Marie Shuttleworth and Shay Mabrey, grandchildren, Krystina Shuttleworth, Ryan Shuttleworth, Shayna Mabrey and Stephen Mabrey, great-grandchildren, Brenae Shuttleworth and Calleigh Van Buren, niece, Cynthia Mabrey Mayson, nephew, Darrin Mabrey, great-nephews, Kyle Redd, Tyler Redd, Corbin Snipes and great-nieces, Logan, Kailyn and Rhaylin Mabrey.
The family will greet friends on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, from 6 until 8 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Thursday, September 17, 2020, at 2 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Interment with full military honors accorded by a United States Army Honor Guard, followed in the Blackville Cemetery, Blackville, SC. Pallbearers were Shay Mabrey, Ryan Shuttleworth, Kyle Redd, Corbin Snipes and Stephen Mabrey.
