Sena Ernestine Parris Martin, 92, died Friday, September 29, 2023 at Hospice House of Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.
Born in Meadowview, VA and a daughter of the late Vernie Elonzo Parris and Essie Gray Parris, she was the wife of the late Loyd Rayburn Martin. Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. She was a longtime member of Good Hope Baptist Church choir and loved to sing. Second only to her faith in her Lord, her family was the driving force in her life. Family get togethers were much anticipated occasions. She loved working in her yard and enjoyed sitting on her porch to watch the many hummingbirds that flocked to her home every year. She was affectionately known as Mapa, Mapoo, Monnie and Papoo to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
Surviving are seven children, Greg Bane (Deborah) of Madison, GA, Kenneth Bane (Angelia) of Greenwood, Vicki Bane of Spartanburg, Melissa Bane of Greenville, SC, Steven Bane (Teresa) of Anderson, SC, Jennifer McGee Fields (Lee) of Edgefield, and Debbie McGee Efird of Saluda, a sister, Alta Koning (Otto) of Chilhowie, VA nineteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth W. Bane, her second husband, Charles H. McGee, a son, John McGee, six brothers, Charles Parris, Raymond Parris, Buford Parris, Gordon Parris, R.C. Parris and Burt Parris and three sisters, Ruby Widener, Sarah Wilson and Lula Merchant.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Ramey Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, October 2, 2023 at Good Hope Baptist Church with Pickens Polatty officiating. Interment will follow in Mayson Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Bane, Eric Honeycutt, Brian Bane, Lee Bane, Joey Hurt and Zachary Hurt, Honorary Pallbearers, Logan Bane and Landon Bane.
