Selena Mae Scott Vance was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on July 16, 1949. She was a graduate of Capitol High School (class of 1967). In 1978, Selena began her career as a Financial Aid Counselor at Southern University A & M College. In 1993, Selena advanced in her career, serving as a Senior Financial Aid Counselor at Xavier University of New Orleans. Selena was an active member of the Fairview Baptist Church, serving in the Senior Choir for many years, and then becoming one of the secretaries at the church, as well as a deaconess. She was also active in the mission ministry and tirelessly served her church and the surrounding community. She was summoned home to glory, surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. Selena leaves a legacy of love to her devoted and caring sons, daughters-in-law, one sister, a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, close and special friends and a countless number of brothers and sisters in Christ. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, four brothers, two brothers-in law, one sister-in-law, and one daughter-in-law. Viewing will be Saturday, June 18, 2022, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am, at Beacon Light Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA. Funeral services will start at 11:00 am at Beacon Light Baptist Church. Services will be conducted by Hall Davis & Son Funeral Services, LLC (www.halldavisandson.com (http://www.halldavisandson.com)). Services will be live-streamed on the YouTube page of Beacon Light of Baton Rouge.
