Hemingway, SC Mary Jean Knight Baxley, 75, of Columbia lost her lengthy battle with cancer on July 11, 2020, and went home to be with her Lord. Mary Jean was born in Columbia, the daughter of Howard and Fanny Knight. She was married to husband Norman Baxley for 55 years. She was a graduate of Coastal Carolina University. Mary Jean dedicated her entire life to caring for those less fortunate, and spreading the word of her faith in God. For the last 54 years of her life she provided care for at least one of her two special needs sons. Throughout her lifetime she served in leadership roles with numerous organizations and charities such as Special Olympics, Red Cross, and Easter Seals Society....

Barbara Miller Harden, age 96, of Pawleys Island, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Inlet Coastal Resort. Barbara was born in Omaha, Nebraska on December 21, 1923 to Dee and Pearl Miller. After moving to Pawleys Island in 2006, she was a resident of the Lakes of Litchfield until 2016 when she moved to Inlet Coastal Resort. While living at the Lakes of Litchfield, Barbara was active in the community, walked 2 miles each morning, and twice a week on the beach. Sheila passed away on the ninth of June 2020. Sheila's father Jim, called her "brid", which is the Lancashire dialect for bird. She was his little bird. She was beautiful. Her maiden name was Marrow, and she went by Sheila. Her first "given name" was Elizabeth. Sheila's chosen profession was nursing. Florence Rush Potts died peacefully at age 95 on May 27, 2020 in Charlotte, N.C. Florence was born in Columbia, SC on January 1, 1925. She graduated from Winthrop College in 1945 with a degree in nutrition. She married William F. Potts (Bill) in 1945 upon his discharge from the Army Air Corps. The couple's first home was Princeton, NJ where Florence worked as a hospital dietician until her husband completed his college education. After his graduation from Princeton University, the couple moved to Niagara Falls, New York where their four children were born.
