William Merton Dickerson Jr, age 93 of Pamplin, VA passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. William was preceded in death by his parents William and Ida Dickerson. William is survived by his spouse Edna R. Dickerson, a son Gary K. Dickerson and a grandson Drew Dickerson. William served his country in the United States Army. He was a deacon at Spring Creek Baptist Church, a devoted farmer, was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 70 years and worked for the Forestry Dept. After retiring he built many houses in his community. William liked to dove hunt with his son Gary. He was a mentor to his son and taught him a lot about life. Dr. Katherine "Kate" Martin Gray, 77, of Lynchburg, VA, formerly of Wilmette, IL, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024, in Atlanta, GA, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Born on July 18, 1947, to James K. Martin, Sr. and Sally K. Helwig, Kate was a distinguished academic and passionate advocate for the arts and education. While attending Hollins University in Roanoke, VA, Kate married Robert Hanes Gray, Jr. in 1967.
